Spakinect Translator Policy

Spakinect Translator Policy

For non-English speaking patients, there must be a guardian, friend/family member, staff member, or licensed interpreter physically present during the Good Faith Evaluation (GFE). The translator must obtain verbal consent to discuss the patient’s health history and verbalize that they agree to translate the information faithfully and accurately at the beginning of the visit.

At this time, Spakinect is not responsible for providing a translator/translation service for GFEs. On-site medical staff must arrange for a translator to be present prior to GFE initiation. If a translator is unavailable to interpret, the patient should be rescheduled for when an interpreter is available. Virtual translators not included on the original GFE call (ex: Facetime via a patient/client cell phone) are not permitted due to security and HIPAA compliance concerns, thus an on-site translator is required.

Should the appointed translator seem unable to faithfully and accurately translate the necessary information for the visit, the telehealth medical provider may request the GFE be rescheduled due to potential patient safety concerns.
